FAQs

  • Therapy is a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with the guidance of a trained professional. It can help you better understand yourself, develop coping strategies, and work through challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or life transitions. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we’ll work toward your goals at your own pace.

  • No, you don’t need a GP referral to book a session with me as a psychotherapist and counsellor. You can reach out directly to begin your therapeutic journey.

However, if you’re seeking a mental health assessment, diagnosis, or Medicare rebates for sessions with a psychologist, you would need a GP referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

  • Unfortunately, counselling and psychotherapy sessions with me are not eligible for Medicare rebates. However, it’s worth noting that psychologists often charge higher rates, and the Medicare rebate typically covers an amount similar to what counsellors and psychotherapists usually charge. This means my fees are often comparable to the out-of-pocket costs you might pay after a rebate, while still providing high-quality, personalised care tailored to your needs.

  • My fee is $130 AUD for a 50-minute session.

I also offer a free 15-minute initial consultation for the opportunity to meet me and see if I’ll be the right fit for you.

While sessions aren't eligible for Medicare rebates, clients with AHM, ARHG, Bupa, HCF, or Medibank Private may claim rebates if their policy covers counselling.

  • The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and goals for therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and share any concerns. Together, we’ll create a plan tailored to your needs and preferences.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the challenges you’re facing. Some people find short-term therapy (6–8 sessions) helpful for specific issues, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll regularly review your progress to ensure therapy is meeting your needs.

  • While the terms are often used interchangeably, counselling typically focuses on short-term support for specific issues, while psychotherapy delves deeper into patterns, emotions, and behaviours over a longer period. My approach combines both, depending on your needs.

  • A trauma-informed approach means I prioritise your safety, choice, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process. I’m sensitive to the impact of past trauma and ensure that therapy is conducted in a way that avoids re-traumatisation and supports your healing.

  • I specialise in supporting individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health concerns, anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep issues, and challenges related to motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. I also offer psychedelic integration therapy for those seeking to process and integrate their experiences.

  • An integrative approach means I combine different therapeutic tools and techniques to create a personalised plan that works best for you. This allows therapy to be flexible and responsive to your unique needs, personality, and goals.

  • Psychedelic integration therapy helps individuals process and make sense of their psychedelic experiences. It’s not about providing or facilitating the use of psychedelics but rather supporting you in understanding and integrating the insights or challenges that arise from these experiences. It may be right for you if you’ve had a psychedelic experience and want to explore its impact on your life.
